Letters To Your Representatives Empty
PostSubject: Letters To Your Representatives   Letters To Your Representatives EmptyThu Mar 12, 2009 5:23 pm

Protests get attention, but we have no control on how such actions are viewed by those whom we would win to our side. Online email petitions are worthless as communication because anyone with a computer, an internet connection and a phone book can make one up without convincing any one of the issue.

Emails are slowly becoming an accepted means of making your opinions known to your legislators but volume may mean that the entire mailbox is scanned, sorted and there is no way to know if your email will be read, understood and answered.

It may be a quaint form of communication, but a written letter sent via snail mail is still the most effective way to get action from any bureaucrat. Each letter that arrives has to be opened, read, placed in the right in-box and then it must be answered. In addition, writing a letter takes more effort than signing a petition or sending an email and that effort must be rewarded. The standard ratio is that for every one letter received, 99 of the same opinion were not. Here is the text of a letter I have sent to my representatives. If this inspires you to write letters of your own.

Quote :
In a time of financial disaster unlike anything this nation has experienced since 1929 it is galling that the IRS has given tax-exempt status to such an obvious scam as the so-called Church of Scientology. It is not a church. It is not a religion. It is a greedy corporation bent on power through social and political domination. It has bilked thousands of people out of their entire income, selling them self-help courses that have no documentation of provable results. Just because something can’t be proved does not mean it is deserving to be a religion, especially not for criminal enterprises.

In the latter 1970s Scientology launched Operation Snow White during which they infiltrated 136 US government agencies, 30 embassies and consulates, and an unknown number of corporations to purge all documents derogatory to the cult. Cult founder L. Ron Hubbard ordered the operation, letting his wife and ten CoS executives serve time in Federal prison. Prosecutors said of the cult: The crime committed by these defendants is of a breadth and scope previously unheard of. No building, office, desk, or file was safe from their snooping and prying. No individual or organization was free from their despicable conspiratorial minds. The tools of their trade were miniature transmitters, lock picks, secret codes, forged credentials and any other device they found necessary to carry out their conspiratorial schemes. Why do these people deserve tax exemption?

The cult has misused our judicial system, tying up the courts with frivolous lawsuits aimed at intimidating their critics. The cult’s legal army operates under Hubbard’s 1955 doctrine: The purpose of the suit is to harass and discourage rather than to win. The law can be used very easily to harass, and enough harassment on somebody who is simply on the thin edge anyway, well knowing that he is not authorized, will generally be sufficient to cause his professional decease. If possible, of course, ruin him utterly. Those who protest against Co$ must remain masked and anonymous to protect themselves from being “fair gamed” a policy declared by Hubbard for dealing with the cult’s enemies, which is anyone who is critical of the cult. While wrapping themselves in the cloak of religion and the First Amendment’s protection, they deny the other rights guaranteed to the rest of us under the same amendment.

In the ultimate irony Scientology’s secret doctrine (published on the internet over the cult’s objections) states that all religions are false, being nothing more than the implanted ideas by an evil galactic dictator named Xenu. If all religions are false and Scientology claims that it is a religion, then logically it is also false.

It is time for this farce to end. It is time for the IRS to collect its due from Scientology and for the FBI to investigate them for violations of the RICO Act. It is time to put a stop to their abuse of the justice system and their misuse of the First Amendment. It is time to listen to their critics because if we do not we may see a day when this nation is controlled by a wealthy, unscrupulous cult with a great sales pitch and the idea that they – and they alone – are going to save the world for Scientology.

Please let me know what you intend to do about this.
