The world is filled with troubled people, and they follow every faith known to us. Co$ claims that its members are happier and better adjusted than those who do not practice their doctrines. And yet, many of those happy, well-adjusted people are
dead -- either by their own hand or from what relatives describe as criminal neglect by the cult. While there have been deaths in every country where Co$ has gained a foothold, the bulk have occurred at Co$’s Flag Land Base at the Harrison Hotel in Clearwater, Florida.
Lisa McPherson (age 36) held against her will for over two weeks and died of dehydration.
Heribert Pfaff (age 31) died of an epileptic seizure after a $cientology “doctor” prescribed vitamins instead of anti-convulsive medication.
Josephus Havenith (age 45) “drowned” in a bathtub with his head above the water which was hot enough to burn off his skin.
A
fourth victim remains unidentified. His body was found in the boiler-room, used by the cult in their
Rehabilitation Project Force -- which is a fancy way of saying the “hole” as used in prisons to confine the most difficult prisoners.
Actor John Travolta has always been a star of $cientology. On January 2, 2009, his 16 year old son
Jett died from a seizure disorder. The boy's death must have come as a shock since Co$ teaches that their doctrines alone will result in perfect health, even immortality. Jett's short life was a mystery. His father denied that the boy was autistic and the official medical finding
states that Jett suffered from
Kawasaki's disease.
Despite rumors that the boy hit his head in the bathroom during a seizure, there was no evidence of trauma when the body was brought to the morgue and it is believed that the seizure alone caused Jett's death. Even if the causes are completely natural, the life perfection promised by $cientology is disproved by Jett's existence. A $cilon child born of $cilon parents should have been perfect from conception on, but somehow the evil of the world tainted the child in spite of his devout parents. This does not relieve the parents' grief, nor does it obviate their guilt, as stated in this
Anonymous video.
Those who died of natural causes, such as
Paride Ella (age 22) and
Giuseppe Tomba (age 26) -- sudden illness; and
Gabriella Bramucci (age 55) -- cancer. They were told by Co$ doctors” that all sickness is psychosomatic and death is due to failed adherence to Co$ doctrines.
The latest (Spring 2009)
legal case brought against the Co$ FLAG unit in Clearwater, Florida has to do with the suicide of
Kyle Brennan. The adult son of a $cilon father, Kyle suffered from severe depression for which he took the prescription drug Lexapro. The suit against Kyle's father, the $cilon "doctors" who advised the father, as well as all of FLAG alleges that the father, applying
HIS beliefs to his son, removed Kyle's medication and locked it away. It is therefore no great surprise that leaving the young man in a room with
a loaded gun next to his bed ended very badly. While suicide could be blamed on the victim alone it is worthy of note that the gun and bullets were wiped clean of fingerprints.
Other deaths include:
Noah Antrim (age 24) -- jumper;
Susan Meister (age 23) -- gunshot;
Roberto Deplano (age 20) -- jumper;
Oscar A, Mario M. and
Wilhelm Mack (age 37) -- hanged themselves.
